What do ravens and writing-desks have in common?
4 Answers
Lewis Carroll's imagination
This question is based on the following question in Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland': 'How is a raven like a writing desk?'

Lewis Carroll's answer was: "It is nevar put with the wrong end in front." 'Nevar' is the word 'raven' spelt backwards.

Sam Loyd gave an alternative answer in 1914: "Poe wrote on both". This alludes to 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe.

There are several additional answers, but Lewis Carroll's answer is the definitive one.
