haha quite frankly I hate having laptops, for me desktop are lot more comfortable. However laptops are light weighted, and you can carry them everywhere. It is good when you want to get some work done and relax at the same time.

Heat is the issue. a good docking station cures this issue but don't get a sony as they fry out fast.

Desk tops have fans that keep them cool and running well. also desktop are expandable more easily.

A desktop is easier to upgrade and fix. They're also cheaper and more up-to-date with the latest technology since the parts are always big when new tech stuff comes out. Desktops also have more ports and inputs than laptops. But you can buy a USB hub for a laptop to fix that problem. Desktops always have faster processors as well.

Laptops are more expensive because they are smaller and the parts are smaller. It's VERY hard to fix or upgrade them but it's very easy to take them anywhere you want, say the living room while your watching TV or whatever.

It really depends on what you need. If you just want to do some word processing and check email and surf the net or whatever, and like the mobility thing and don't like the bulkiness and all the wires, get the laptop.

But if you're doing some serious gaming and graphic design work or whatever, a desktop is the best way to go. Also, if you don't plan on taking your computing mobile, a desktop might be a better choice since it's generally cheaper.

Desktops are designed to take a beating and go through some damage, Parts are easily replaceable if things break.

Laptops are tightly compact and usually will start to Overheat overtime. The Industries have not perfected the design of them

I'm not saying do not get one (They are great for vacations and college students)
But if it is something for your home I do recommend keeping a desktop seeing that they are cheaper and more durable and last a lot longer.

Well most laptops nowadays can do what most desktops can do. What I would suggest, if money is not the issue, look for a laptop that you want, get a cooling pad for it, a keyboard, and a mouse. It's set as an office PC with the keyboard and mouse attached. when you need to take it someplace, just unplug the peripherals and you're good to go. So it's like taking your desktop wherever you need to go with your computer, and when you get home, you can set it up to use as a desktop. Just remember to get a cooling pad.
